Photo exhibition by Alessandro Scarpa and Carlo Albertini
28th of June to the 28th of July

Muggenhofer Str. 141
D-90429 Nuremberg

The photo exhibit EX - IL FASCINO DELL'ABBANDONO by Alessandro Scarpa and Carlo Albertini will have an international showcase. It will be displayed from the 28th of June to the 28th of July in Nuremberg on the occasion of the final conference of the European project Second Chance.

The exhibition takes place in and is organised by the Zentrifuge - an experimental exhibition hall on the former industrial and now revitalised site Auf AEG, Nuremberg. The Zentrifuge is a dynamic and enabling authentic space. It is an economically ambitious cultural project, which generates hybrid and value added services. It reveals creative potential and is thus experimentally and targeted at the same time.

After receiving an enthusiastic response for their exhibit first at Candiani Cultural Center in Mestre, supported by the City of Venice, and then at the Fotografia Festival in Padua, the two young photographers are about to leave and conquer Germany. EX has been chosen as part of the artistic frame surrounding the Second Chance project (, which brings together some European cities like Venice, Krakow, Ljubljana, Leipzig and Nuremberg in a project for the revitalization of disused urban sites by means of a new creative impulse.

The society Arsenale di Venezia S.p.A., which is partner in the Second Chance project, proposed to take EX to Germany as a symbol of the attention given to the areas which are worth a second chance. Representing the unexpected beauty which emerges from the discovery of disused industrial factories and rusty urban structures, EX reflects the creative impulse which animates the participating cities in their desire to go beyond mere appearance.

EX is more than a simple photo exhibit, it is a project in development. Alessandro and Carlo, together with a group of other young people, gave life to Project Ex with the purpose of creating an artistic and cultural community which could become a point of reference for all the photographic, graphic and editorial works dealing with environmental, social and historical subjects in the Venetian area.

The two photographers have the dream of opening their own space to set up their project. They aim at making it an association which promotes artistic initiative through the organization of photo exhibits and workshops as well as providing a seedbed to other artists’ ideas and projects related to the philosophy of revitalisation.
